That is the view of Reds legend Jamie Carragher.

The former Liverpool defender watched on as his old club failed to overcome their deficit in tonight’s EFL Cup semi-final second leg.

Anfield was left stunned as Southampton won 1-0 to clinch a place at Wembley after prevailing 2-0 on aggregate.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have struggled of late in attack, especially with Mane absent at the Africa Cup of Nations.

The Reds’ top scorer is away with Senegal, who have reached the knockout stages of the tournament in Gabon, meaning he won’t return to Merseyside until February.

With Liverpool’s season hitting a slump, Carragher believes some of the team are not pulling their weight.

“It’s obvious how much Liverpool miss Mane,” Carragher said on Sky Sports.

“Some of the players need to look at themselves.”

Daniel Sturridge received heavy criticism from Carragher and Liverpool supporters after the striker missed key chances at Anfield.

And Klopp must now reorganise quickly following two successive home defeats to Swansea and the Saints, with a visit from Wolves up next in the FA Cup fourth round on Saturday (12.30pm).
