ISIS have claimed this evening's Paris shooting attack
The attack in the heart of the capital of France has now been claimed by Islamic extremists.
Isis have claimed the attack via the Amaq news agency, which named the attacker as Abu Yusuf al-Beljiki, a Belgian national.
Police sources in Paris, as well as French president Francois Hollande, have confirmed they suspect terrorism.
The shooting took place at 8pm local time (7pm GMT), when a police car stopped at red lights was targeted.
One officer was shot dead before the gunman was also slain by another officer.
Other police officers were injured, two seriously, while a tourist suffered slight injuries.
