Xbox One Scorpio will be without a new Gears of War or Halo
Xbox One Scorpio won't launch alongside a new Halo or Gears of War shooter sequel when the holiday 2017 release date rolls around.
Microsoft has seemingly ruled out the release of a new Halo or Gears of War shooter this year, telling fans that the games lineup will be a bit different.
Asked if Microsoft would release any brand new IPs that hadn't already been announced, Xbox boss Phil Spencer said: "XB1 games shipping this year are different for us. not Halo FPS/Gears led, new experiences with different IP, will be fun year."
Despite the cancellation of Scalebound, Microsoft also has the likes of Sea of Thieves, State of Decay 2 and Cuphead coming to Xbox One.
Halo fans shouldn't be too disheartened, however, because Microsoft will launch Halo Wars 2 in February. The strategy sequel will also be available for Windows 10 PC.

The Xbox One Scorpio is being touted as the most powerful console ever created. It boasts 6 teraflops of GPU, which will deliver 4K gaming and support virtual reality.
It's so powerful that Microsoft recently had a dig at Sony's PS4 Pro console, telling one site the device won't be able to handle true 4K and that the Xbox One Scorpio is aiming higher.
"I think there are a lot of caveats they're giving customers right now around 4K. They're talking about checkerboard rendering and up-scaling and things like that.
"They're going to be able to decide to take that six teraflops of power and do what they think is best for their game. But I know that 4.2 teraflops is not enough to do true 4K."
However, despite its power, Microsoft has been keen to point out that the Xbox One Scorpio isn't like a PC, and is every inch a gaming console.
After one fan expressed concerns that the Scorpio was a gaming PC made to look like a console, Spencer replied: "That's not what Scorpio is. It's a console.
He followed it up with: "No, the console experience is different from PC imo, and XB1, XB1S, Scorpio etc are consoles."
The Xbox One Scorpio currently has a holiday 2017 release date, and will be priced like a premium console.
It's unclear when it will be shown off in full, with Microsoft admitting that it was unsure if it will be unveiled before E3 in June.
