A woman who was stuck in her bath for “up to eight days” is recovering in hospital.
A food delivery driver called police to the woman’s home in Loughborough on Wednesday afternoon when she did not contact them “on her regular day”.
Officers forced entry and found the woman, in her 70s, in the bath and said she was “unable to get out”.
Leicestershire Police said she was taken to hospital for further assessment.
The food delivery driver who called police when he had not seen the lady for more than a week said she must have been “terrified”.
“She’s a regular customer that orders through us every week, and when she didn’t contact us on her regular day, we knew something was wrong,” said Len Bateman, from Wiltshire Farm Foods.
“I might not have acted so quickly if I knew she had friends or family and when she didn’t answer the door I knew I needed to get help.
“It must have been very hard for her, I don’t know how much longer she might have lasted there.”
Mr Bateman’s manager said his actions had “probably saved her life”.
