Never forget a deadline again with this great new Cortana update
Using Windows 10 may be about to get a lot more personal after Microsoft announced a new expansion for Cortana.
Windows 10’s smart assistant is already able to carry out a wide number of tasks for your personal life and activities, including arranging travel, booking restaurants and finding out information on anything you desire.

Windows 10 could soon be coming to smart home products
That’s because Microsoft has revealed an update which will allow Cortana to keep track of more details in your email account.
The system will now scan through your messages to identify any important dates or deadlines.
For example, if you’ve promised to send a Word or Excel document to a work colleague by a certain time, Cortana can send you a pop-up reminder as this approaches in order to make sure you don’t forget.
It’s not just for work though – as Cortana can remind you to buy tickets for your date night, making sure, as Microsoft says, “nothing slips through the cracks”.
Cortana is about to get even smarter with this new update
Powered by all-new machine learning technology, Microsoft says the new “suggested reminders” are able to accurately recognise when you make a commitment in your emails.

The alerts, which will also be stored in the Windows 10 Action Centre, can be snoozed, or marked as complete.
The upgrade is currently rolling out now to Windows 10 users, and will also arrive on iOS and Android devices within the next few weeks.
You’ll need an Outlook.com email address or Office 365 account to take advantage of the new service.
Then, you just need to open up Cortana and click to view the Notebook view.
From here, click Connected Services to connect either type of email account.
The news is the latest update to Cortana in recent weeks as Microsoft looks to keep expanding and improving its smart assistant.
As mentioned above, the service, which began on Windows 10 computers, is also available on iOS and Android mobile devices.
From your phone, Cortana will be able to turn off your computer, meaning you can shut down your PC when away from your desk with a quick voice command.
The service is now also able to restart, lock, and put your PC to sleep, as well as change the system volume.
Microsoft has released several major updates for Cortana recently
Cortana is also set to start appearing in cars later this year, with Microsoft signing deals with Nissan and BMW to get the software built into future smart vehicles.
This would provide access to Cortana through a touchscreen on the dashboard, letting the driver see information on events, reminders or news items.
Microsoft is also looking at getting Cortana into connected smart home devices such as fridges, thermostats and even kitchen appliances.
This upgrade would form a major part of the Windows 10 Creators Update, set to be launched later this year.
