Murray and Hingis comfortably beat Heather Watson and Henri Kontinen 6-4, 6-4 to clinch the Scot’s second title at SW19, and fourth Grand Slam doubles title.
The win meant that Jamie has won as many titles at Wimbledon as his younger brother Andy, who went out of the singles in the quarter-finals.
Jamie only teamed up with 1997 singles champion Hingis the week before the tournament after she texted him suggesting they get together. Before that, he had not intended playing this year.
“I probably would have said no to playing had it not been for Martina’s text,” said Murray. “It was just a great opportunity for me. Martina’s won everything, so many mixed as well. I knew I could do well with her. It was an easy decision.”

And Hingis revealed Murray had kept her waiting overnight for an answer. The 36-year-old said: “I just said ‘Hi, Jamie, want to play with me!’ I was definitely hoping for a yes.
“I don’t take no as an answer pretty much. But I texted him in the evening and he left me hanging overnight. I was like, ‘Oh, my god, did he read it? Did he not?’”
Murray insisted: “I didn’t get her message till I woke up in the morning!
“It was a good decision for both of us. It’s easy to play with Martina. She’s always smiling and happy. She takes care of her side of the court, which makes my job a lot easier.

“The first time I won it was 10 years ago now. I really enjoyed the whole week. It’s a great achievement. Any time you win a Grand Slam, get your name up on the board again, it’s there forever. No one will take it away from you.”
Jamie was watched on Centre Court by his mother Judy, and Andy also arrived during the first set. The older Murray has now won two mixed doubles Grand Slams, both at Wimbledon, and two doubles, at the Australian and US Opens.
The duo have yet to decide whether they will be teaming up again, with the US Open looming next month.
Hingis said: “We haven’t talked about it. We’ll have plenty of time to do that.”
Martina Hingis messaged Jamie Murray suggesting the two should team up
For Watson it was a bitter disappointment, as she and Kontinen had won the trophy last year. But when her serve was broken twice in the first set, the pair were already struggling against the top seeds.
She and Kontinen rallied in the second set, but when Murray twice saved crucial break points on his serve at 2-3 down, it proved the turning point. Watson’s served cracked again in the next game and there was no way back.
“I missed a few too many returns,” she said. “We had quite a few breakpoint chances. They are a really tough team. We knew that going in. Martina served particularly well and Jamie at the net is very good and very big.”
Watson, who got through to the third round of the singles this year, added: “It’s been a great tournament all around. I’m so happy to reach the final again with Henri.
“Losing was a strange feeling. We haven’t felt it yet together. Hopefully we don’t feel it again. I’d love to play with Henri again. I haven’t asked him yet, but I hope he says yes.”
