The 38-year-old quit the competition last October, just four weeks into the live BBC shows.
It came as former head judge Len Goodman fiercely told the Pop Idol singer to “keep up, put up and shut up”.
Will has now claimed that the veteran judge’s comments were not the catalyst for his departure decision.
He explained: “It was important for me to leave Strictly for my own wellbeing.
