Who is Sophie Gregoire Trudeau? Meet the beautiful wife of Canadian President Justin Trudeau
Canada’s President Justin Trudeau is famed for his good looks but his beloved wife Sophie is also very attractive.
Most simply know her as the glamorous wife of Mr Trudeau but she is also a former television host with a passion for charity work.
As Mr Trudeau meets German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Germany today, here is a look at his 44-year-old wife Sophie.
Sophie Gregoire, the only child of a stockbroker and a nurse, spent most of her childhood in Montreal, the French speaking province of Quebec.

The Canadian was a childhood friend of her future husband’s younger brother Michel Trudeau, who she went to school with.
Justin and Michael – who died in an avalanche at the age of 23 1998 – were the sons of the former Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau.
After knowing each other as children, Justin and Sophie met again when he was her co-host at charity function in 2003.
“There was definitely a physical and emotional connection,” she recalls. “We flirted. But I sent him an email then next day, and he never replied.”

But it seems as though they were fated to be together because they bumped into each other in the street three months later.
Even though she refused to give him her number, he managed to find it, invited her out to dinner where he predicted their future marriage.
She said: “He looked into my eyes, and said, ‘I’ve been waiting for you 31 years. You’re going to be my wife. We’re going to have a family together’.”
The couple got married in 2005 and her husband became Canada’s President a decade later in 2015.
As a girl Sophie planned to follow in her father’s business footsteps but later changed her mind and switched from commerce to communications at McGill University.
"I idolized my dad and thought I would follow in his business footsteps,” she told the Women on the Fence blog.
“But I soon realized it was not for me. I switched to communications– writing, photography, PR. It was more me.”
She started out as a receptionist before being promoted to account manager but still felt as though she had not found her calling yet.
