Putin ignored Trump's warning to return Crimea and insisted its a Russian territory
Speaking on behalf of Vladimir Putin’s foreign ministry, spokeswoman Maria Zakharova used a weekly news briefing to correct President Trump’s claims that Crimea was “taken”.
Ms Zakharova said: “We don’t return our territories. Crimea is a territory of the Russian Federation.”
Dmitri Peskov, a spokesman for the Kremlin fuelled the Trump takedown as he said Russia did not discuss its “territorial integrity”.
As tensions brewed in the White House on Tuesday over officials being linked to Russian officials, Sean Spicer, the White House secretary told a press conference that Trump denounced the seizure of Crimea.

Spicer said: “President Trump has made it very clear that he expects the Russian government to de-escalate violence in Ukraine and return Crimea.
“At the same time, he [Trump] fully expects to and wants to be able to get along with Russia, unlike previous administrations, so that we can solve many problems together facing the world, such as ISIS and terrorism.”
In order to clearly clarify his thoughts, President Trump took to Twitter to question Barack Obama’s “soft” approach towards Russia.
In a tweet, Trump said: “Crimea was TAKEN by Russia during the Obama Administration. Was Obama too soft on Russia?”
