What time do polls open and close?
Polling stations across the UK opened at 7am today (Thursday June 8) and close at 10pm.
Voters who are in their polling station at 10pm, or are in a queue outside, are entitled to vote.
Where is my polling station?
Voters should have already received their polling card through the post, which includes the name and address of their local polling station.
Those who have not received their polling card should contact their local council to find out where their polling station is.
It is likely to be the same location as used for last year’s EU referendum, but please double check before you leave home.
How to vote
On arrival, give your name and address to the staff inside the polling station and you will be given a ballot paper.
Take your paper into a booth and follow the instructions on the notices in the polling booth and on the top of the ballot paper to vote.
There will be a pencil provided but you can use your own pen.
Put your vote in the ballot box as instructed. Do not let anyone see your vote.

What if I have a postal vote?
Those who have applied for a postal vote can not vote in person at the polling station.
The postal vote deadline is 10pm today. It is now too late to post your ballot, instead you should return your postal vote in person to the polling station or to the Returning Officer at your local council before they close.
Any votes not received by 10pm will not be counted.

What if I have a proxy vote?
If you have applied for a proxy vote, your proxy should have received a proxy polling card telling them where to vote.
The proxy should vote as normal, following the above instructions.
The deadline for proxy vote applications has now passed, however emergency proxy is available for those who have a medical emergency or have been called away for work.
In either case, apply for an emergency proxy vote by 5pm today at yourvotematters.co.uk.
