Brexit Secretary David Davis laughed off his error
Making a statement to MPs before the publication of a White Paper on the Government's Brexit plans, the Brexit Secretary said: "On 23 June 2016, the UK will leave the EU."
Realising his error, he added: "That's wrong!
"On the 23 June 2016, the people voted for the UK to leave the EU.
"This is why I should read it first, shouldn't I?!
Amid laughter from MPs, Mr Davis quipped: "Don't worry, we've got two years to go. Two years of this!"
The White Paper has outlined the 12-point Brexit plan Theresa May set out in a major speech last month.
