The violence was sparked when a lone motorist in a silver Vauxhall Astra came close to a collision with a white van.
Video footage filmed on another driver's mobile phone shows a raging passenger get out of the van and land six heavy blows through the half-open window of the Astra.
The thug can also be seen pushing against the door of the vehicle to prevent the defenceless driver from fighting back.
The Astra driver manages to force open his car door which swings forward and slams the attacker into the side of the van, parked next to it in the middle of the road.
He jumps out of his car and goes after the unnamed passenger, who is wearing a blue polo shirt and jeans.
But by this time the first attacker has been joined by the burly driver of the white transit van, wielding what appears to be a surveyor's wheel.

It's believed the silver Astra had got in the way of the white transit van as it came down Garrard Way in the direction of Drakes Way.
This caused the white van to stop and led to words being exchanged between those in the van and the driver of the car.
