Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton will be team-mates at Mercedes in 2017
Bottas signed a one-year deal to drive alongside Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes last month, replacing retired world champion Nico Rosberg.
The German fought tooth and nail with Hamilton for the championship in three consecutive seasons, souring the friendship between the two and causing rifts within the team.
And while the Brit expects to be the No 1 driver at Mercedes this time around, Bottas is determined to ensure he is just as competitive.

"My goal is the championship, I really have the opportunity to get it," Bottas told Finnish broadcaster MTV.
"The immediate objective is to fight against him.
"We expect to be able to do many kilometres in the winter tests and, if all goes well, we will have a reliable and fast car."
Mercedes will unveil their new car on February 23, the day before rivals Ferrari and McLaren, ahead of winter testing which starts in Barcelona four days later.

Bottas, who has 78 Grands Prix with Williams under his belt, is currently learning the set-up in his new car and also revealed that he has been probing his predecessor Rosberg for tips.
"It was good to talk to him," Bottas added.
