ITV's Unforgotten finished with a gripping finale
Will Unforgotten return for series 3?
The show’s creator Chris Lang has revealed that he’d “love to come back for another go” at the hit ITV police drama.
He told Radio Times: “I’d like to do one more series because I want to square various circles with Cassie (Nicola Walker) and Sunny (Sanjeev Bhaskar).
“I’ve certainly got another story to tell but it will be down to the audience and the broadcaster, whether they want it to come back.”
ITV are yet to confirm whether they will commission a third series, but fans have already taken to social media to demand more after the “perfect” series two finale.
There was just over a year’s wait between the first two series, meaning that viewers will probably have to wait until at least 2018 for more of the police drama.
What will happen in Unforgotten series 3?
Series two ended without revealing what happened to Sara, Colin and Marion – the trio accused of murder.
Lang has said that their fate will remain a mystery, and series three will move on to a new case.
“I think their story has ended,” he said.
“The audience will wonder which of those relationships survived and which didn’t.
Nicola Walker could return for another series of Unforgotten
“It’s quite a thing to learn from your partner that, albeit thirty years ago, you murdered someone.
“You might say that there were justifiable reasons but it’s still a heinous crime.
“What would you do if you found out? If your husband had killed somebody thirty years ago would you still be able to carry on your relationship with them?”

Lang hinted that Cassie and Sunny’s decision to walk away from the case could loom over series 3.
“I don’t think it’s something that they will wear lightly,” he explained.
“It’s a secret that they now have and they will have to carry with them through their job and if we do get a third series obviously one will attempt to explore the ramifications of what making such a profound decision will be.”
