Police rushed to the scene in Kista, northwestern Stockholm, just after 10pm this evening after the two men were discovered in a car just yards from a primary school.
Both men hit by shots to the head and suffered serious injuries, local media have cited the police as saying.
Huge swathes of the roads surrounding the area have now been cordoned off and armed officers deployed to the scene.
Around eight police cars surround the victims’ car, and police helicopters were spotted in the air above the scene.

Police spokesperson Anna Westberg confirmed two people had been injured, adding they had been rushed to hospital with serious injuries.
She added: "At present, we choose not to comment more."
It is currently unclear how severe their injuries are, but local media are reporting the pair were shot in the head.

It is believed the suspect drove away from the scene at high speed and police have now launched an investigation and man hunt following the two attempted murders.
The attack took place in a residential area, just northwest of the country's capital, and only metres away from a school.
Neighbours have poured out in the streets to find out what has happened, as police continue to knock on doors as enquiries continue.
