Brookes used an air freshener to conceal a camera

Stephen Brookes, 55, had admitted observing seven women doing private acts after using an air freshener to conceal a camera linked to a mobile phone app.

Leamington Spa Magistrates' Court was told last month that Brookes, of Loxley Road, Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, was arrested in September last year after a motion-sensitive camera was seized by police.

Officers also recovered numerous videos from a memory card, an iPhone and an iPad belonging to Brookes.

The presenter has worked with several broadcasting groups on numerous shows, including a gardening phone-in on BBC local radio in the Coventry and Warwickshire area.

Earlier, Brookes pleaded guilty to seven charges of observing a person doing a private act knowing that the person did not consent to being observed for his sexual gratification.

But magistrates committed the presenter to Warwick Crown Court for sentencing after deciding their powers of sentencing were insufficient.

Today, he is facing life behind bars.
