Donald Trump touched down in Washington ahead of his inauguration tomorrow

The Republican left New York's Trump Tower earlier this morning and flew in an American government aircraft to the capital where he will officially being Presidnetial duties tomorrow.

Mr Trump's son, Donald Trump Jr, disembarked the aircraft first – he will take over his father's companies while the 70-year-old remains in office.

Mr Trump made his way down the aircraft steps arm in arm with his wife Melania and received a salute from army officials as soon as his feet touched the ground.

He was taken away under armed guard to Blair House, where soon-to-be Presidents traditionally spend their final night before entering the White House.

His inauguration will take place at 5pm GMT tomorrow, January 20, in Washington and is expected to be attended by hundreds of thousands of people.
