The Dalai Lama believes Trump and Putin could promote world peace
The Dalai Lama has insisted the pair should form a special relationship since he believes the duo could promote peace.
The exiled spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhists insisted heads of state all over the world should be compassionate.
Following Trump’s inauguration on Friday the world has been waiting to hear how he will form alliances acriss the globe.
And the Dalai Lama set out his hopes for new relationships from the White House.

Now once they are elected, having the responsibility, then they have to carry their cooperation, their work, according to reality
Speaking from New Delhi, he said the world is moving toward peace and non-violence, and he hopes Trump and Putin will come closer and work toward creating global peace.
In a statement he said: “I feel during the election, the candidate has more freedom to express.
"Now once they are elected, having the responsibility, then they have to carry their cooperation, their work, according to reality.”
The Dalai Lama has met former US presidents, including four meetings with Barack Obama.

However, the pair getting together could further anger Beijing, which accuses the Tibetan leader of trying to split Tibet from China.
Although he has called for Tibet to remain under Chinese rule with certain conditions, the Chinese are unwilling to budge.
Chinese President Xi Jinping congratulated Trump in a phone call, before the country applauded Trump's announcement that he would abandon a US-led free trade agreement in Asia which leaves out China.

The celebrations came after Trump angered leaders by receiving a phone call from Taiwan's Tsai Ing-wen.
He was the first president or president-elect to speak directly to the regime in 37 years.
The Dalai Lama has been based in India's northern hill town of Dharamsala since fleeing Tibet during an abortive uprising against Chinese rule in 1959.
