Gareth Bale is being linked with a big-money move to Chelsea and Manchester United

Manchester United and Chelsea will go head-to-head to sign Gareth Bale from Real Madrid, according to reports.

Spanish outlet Don Balon claims both clubs are prepared to break the bank for the Welshman, readying bids of £172million.

Bale pledged his long-term future to Madrid last year by signing a new five-year deal with the club worth £350,000 per week.

The move would make him the most expensive transfer in history – easily overtaking the £89m Manchester United paid Juventus for Paul Pogba last summer.

Arsenal have shortlisted Napoli winger Lorenzo Insigne, according to reports in Italy.

Lorenzo Insigne and his representatives have been locked in contract talks with Napoli for around five months and are yet to come to an agreement.

Italian website CalcioMercato claims this has attracted the attention of a number of teams, including AC Milan, Inter Milan and Arsenal.

How did the Liverpool players get on against Swansea?

Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho will not be leaving for Barcelona, according to Spanish football expert Guillem Balague.

Coutinho has been linked with a move to the Nou Camp this week, but Balague has dismissed the reports, claiming he would be an unnecessary signing.

"There has been no real interest from Barcelona for the Liverpool forward," Balague said.

“I know Rivaldo has spoken about it but it doesn’t make sense because they see him as a forward and the front three will be the front three next season.”
