Harry Kane's penalty was enough for Tottenham
Harry Kane opened the scoring for Tottenham in the second-half from the penalty spot.
The striker stepped up to convert the spot-kick after Son Heung-Min was brought down by Bernardo Espinosa.
Spurs were wasteful and should have had a much more comfortable margin of victory.
And Aitor Karanka's side almost made them pay, when Marten de Roon fired wide in added time.
Tottenham held onto their 1-0 lead and cut Chelsea's lead at the top of the Premier League table to nine points.
