Norman Reedus, who plays Daryl, has said that his character is “in kill mode”, leading fans to speculate that he could take his revenge against Negan after he was tortured and imprisoned.
Reedus said: “He wants revenge. He’s ready to fight.
“When he goes back in that last episode and hands Rick back his stuff, it was like, 'Let’s go! Let’s go beat this guy up. Let’s go take what’s ours and fight this monster’."
Season seven appears to be building up to a final battle between The Saviours and an army made up of Alexandria, the Hilltop and the Kingdom.
The climactic battle is one of the most iconic storylines of Robert Kirkman’s original The Walking Dead comic series, but what happens next is quite unexpected (spoilers ahead).
After a final confrontation, Rick decides that Negan doesn’t deserve an easy death and instead slits his throat in front of the Saviours.

The Walking Dead season 7 spoiler: Rick betrayed as he declares to 'all out war' on Negan
Negan has terrorised the survivors throughout season 7
Negan passes out from blood loss, but wakes up in a prison cell inside of Alexandria, where Rick tells him that he will spend the rest of his life.
The comics then flash forward two years: Negan is still imprisoned, but has struck up a strange relationship with Carl.
When Alexandria comes under attack from a group called the Whisperers, Negan goes undercover and decapitates their leader, redeeming himself.
Rick imprisons Negan in the comics
Thee most recent issue saw Negan living in harmony with the survivors and burying his favourite murder weapon, Lucille.
Kirkman has confirmed that Negan will die before the comic series is over.
He said: “When I run out of ideas for Negan, I'll just kill him. He was supposed to die at the end of the 'Something to Fear' arc.
Daryl has spent season 7 being tortured by the Saviours
“He was originally supposed to be in the book for only four or five issues. It was supposed to end when Maggie takes over the Hilltop.
“Rick was going to deliver Negan's head in a box to Maggie to say, 'I'm sorry’.”
Actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan has said that he will continue to play Negan in season eight, so whether or not the series follows the comic book’s storyline it seems likely that he will be around for a while to come.
