Ciara Harvie from Edinburgh failed to join a team after auditioning on the ITV show, despite much deliberation from each of the judges.
Performing an operatic number, the 19-year-old classical crossover singer didn't receive any feedback under the new ITV show rules.
Once the contestant had left the stage, Sir Tom Jones asked the unruly crowd: "Did we make a mistake?" prompting Gavin Rossdale to stand up and ask: "Can we get the girl back?"
Will.i.am continued, adding: "Can we bring her out?" with angry fans of the show comparing it to a scene from ITV's other singing competition The X Factor.

Once Ciara returned to the stage, the judges apologetically crowded around the contestant as she wiped away her tears.
Gavin offered a hug before saying: "You sounded beautiful. I should have turned around, I was dithering and I missed it."
Jennifer Hudson offered some advice, saying: "You're heading in the right direction!"

Will.i.am added: "I think somebody is going to crack open a hybrid pop opera thing."
The emotional hopeful defiantly admitted: "I'll just keep singing, I'll never give up."

One viewer tweeted: "#TheVoiceUK. Really hate that pretending to press the button… Now we are bringing people back too… Like a really bad X Factor."
"Weird when they make exceptions to fit a narrative isn't it? #thevoiceuk," jibed another.
A third said: "Oh no, not an XFactor style fake 'let's bring her back' moment. This is exactly why it was so bad cutting out the feedback if no one turned!! #TheVoice."
"They should just tell opera singers to not apply instead of all this rejection #painfultowatch #thevoice," posted a fourth.
