According to reports, the Feelin' Myself hitmaker is doodling on his buzzer with a marker pen while one of the contestants is auditioning and when he goes to clean it off with his sleeve, accidentally presses the button to turn his chair around.
The 41-year-old is said to have looked shocked and embarrassed as his chair spun around, confirming his interest in the unfortunate auditionee.
“Will was mortified as he came face to face with the singer – he couldn’t have been less interested," a show insider said.
“He tried to style it out by saying a ghost had pressed the button and even referenced the Patrick Swayze film as he dug a deeper hole for himself."

They added to The Sun: “Will then held his hands up and admitted he didn’t mean to turn around, but would stand by his mistake."
Jennifer Hudson seemed just as shocked as him, but Sir Tom Jones apparently found the situation hysterical and burst into laughter at the Black Eyed Peas star's gaffe.
It's not the first time will.i.am has made this awkward on-screen blunder as it seems he is making a habit of making the uncomfortable mistake of hitting his buzzer while he fiddles with his notes or pen.
On the last series of The Voice UK he accidentally turned around during contestant Alaric Green's emotional performance of Broken Vow and mumbled: "Oh no, oh no," as his chair spun before trying to style it out as if he had meant to press the button.

Luckily, that time, the now ex-judge Ricky Wilson also confirmed his interest in the singer, meaning will.i.am could save face.
The awkward moment will air in tomorrow night's episode as the ITV singing competition enters its fifth week of blind auditions, meaning spaces on the coaches' teams are starting to run low.
Last week, will.i.am was shocked to find out that a contestant he didn't turn around for actually co-wrote one of his hits, T.H.E (The Hardest Ever).
Tanya Lacey ended up making it onto judge Gavin Rossdale's team, leaving will.i.am red-faced as he commented: "Wow… That's… I should have turned around. I'm a bonehead."
The Voice UK continues tomorrow night at 8pm on ITV.
