The new show is based on Margaret Atwood’s novel of the same name and it tells the story of a dystopian society called Gilead.
It follows the rise of the totalitarian government that has formed in the wake of environmental disasters and has a falling birthrate.
The regime treats the women as property of the state with those who remain fertile, forced into sexual servitude to produce children for the ruling class.
