Tom Hardy’s period drama follows the mysterious James Keziah Delaney as he takes on the might of the East India Company.
In tonight’s show, Lorna Bow (played by Jessie Buckley) was brutally dragged to prison and charged with attempted murder.
In graphic scenes, Lorna was dragged into a cell by Solomon Coop (Jason Watkins), who began to undress her violently while revealing bruises on her arms.
After she refused to sell out her husband, Solomon threatened the actress with rape and violence.
Viewers had a lot to say about an attempted-rape scene in tonight's Taboo

At that point, Lorna was saved by some officers who ran in and declared that the charges had been dropped.
Those watching at home took to Twitter to discuss the scene.
One social media user commented: ”How can the humiliation of and the threat of violence against a woman's body still be considered quality viewing? Enough of #Taboo I think."
"Hatewatching #taboo. Are there any women in this who aren't, y'know, victims?" another remarked.
She was aggressively undressed by Solomon Coop
Lorna was then threatened with rape and violence unless she refused to comply
