Swansea ace Jack Cork wants to inflict more misery on Leicester

Gabriel Jesus struck a 92nd-minute winner to steal a 2-1 victory for Manchester City on Sunday to keep Swansea just a point clear of the drop-zone.

But Cork plans to take a giant step towards Premier League survival by condemning the Foxes to a fifth defeat in six matches on Sunday.

He said: “It’s gutting for us because it’s the second year in a row that we’ve lost like this at Manchester City. It was a harsh result – I felt we deserved a point, but it wasn’t to be.

How is your team performing compared to their last Premier League campaign?

“Everyone trusts each other and knows if they go into a position then someone will cover them. We needed that with the amount of pressure we were under. We have started the new year well and now we need to kick on against Leicester next Sunday.”

One man who will be key to the Swans’ survival bid is Gylfi Sigurdsson, who has scored in his last three matches.

The Iceland star has netted nine goals this season and Cork has urged his teammates to use their talisman as much as possible. He said: “In the second half we managed to change everything. We created chances and Gylfi is amazing anywhere near the box.

Jack Cork has called on Swansea to utilise Gylfi Sigurdsson

“He put it between the player’s legs and then sent the goalie the wrong way.

“You know when he’s in that position that he will do something. He’s lethal from that range.”
