Joleon Lescott has joined Sunderland on a short-term contract
Premier League strugglers Sunderland have signed former Everton and Manchester City defender Lescott until the end of the season.
The 34-year-old joined AEK Athens in the summer initially on a two-year deal.

But after suffering a detached cartilage in his knee and after a disagreement with the club, was released in November.
Lescott worked with Sunderland boss David Moyes for three years at Everton before joining Manchester City for £22million in 2009.

Sunderland are short of options at the back with Lamine Kone out at the Africa Cup of Nations and Papy Djilobodji facing the prospect of a four-match ban after being charged by the FA yesterday.
