The first trailer for Stranger Things season 2 has confirmed that Eleven is still alive.
The clip, which aired during the Super Bowl, begins with a vintage advert for Eleven’s favourite snack Eggos, before cutting to a close-up of Millie Bobby Brown’s face.
Her heavy breathing can be heard throughout the rest of the teaser, which sees Mike, Dustin and Lucas dressed in Ghostbusters costumes and ends with a huge, spider-like monster looming over Hawkins.
Season two will pick up a year after Will’s return. Netflix has teased: “Everything seems back to normal… but a darkness lurks just beneath the surface, threatening all of Hawkins.”
Producer Shawn Levy has confirmed that “the plan is to continue with this set of characters while introducing a few critical key new ones next season”.
“A lot of the big mysteries get answered at the end of season one, but we are very much kind of unearthing new problems and questions that merit future stories and future investigation in the most enjoyable way,” he told SlashFilm.

On November 6, 1983 in the made up town of Hawkins, Indiana, 12-year-old Will Byers vanishes mysteriously
One of the biggest unanswered questions from season one is what happened to Eleven. The pyscho-kinetic teen appeared to sacrifice herself during the finale to defeat the demogorgon.
But in the closing scenes, police chief Jim Hopper was seen leaving a box of her favourite snacks, Eggos, in the woods.
David Harbour, who plays Hopper, explained: “He may understand that Eleven exists in some form. And so he’s got this box out in the woods where he gives her food.”
Another mystery that remains unsolved is that of Eleven’s parentage. It was heavily implied in season one that the catatonic Terry is Eleven’s mother.

It was hinted that Terry is Eleven's mother
Terry was subjected to mind-control experiments and given large amounts of LSD while she was heavily pregnant.
She was told that she miscarried the child but believes that the baby, who she calls Jane, was “born with abilities… telepathy – you know, s*** you can do with your mind”.
Fans might also be introduced to more of Eleven’s family in season two.
The season two finale is called the Lost Brother, which many fans have taken to mean that she has a secret sibling.
