Star Wars Battlefront 2 DLC will be released as free updates
Star Wars Battlefront 2 developer EA has even more good news for fans following the announcement of the November 17 release date.
Just days after revealing the official Star Wars Battlefront 2 trailer, EA has said that the sequel won't have a season pass on PS4 and Xbox One. It almost makes up for the lack of Nintendo Switch port.
Creative director Bernd Diemer told Mashable that the game definitely wouldn't have a season pass, as EA looks for a way to keep fans on a level playing field.
"I cannot talk about the specifics of this," he said, "but we have something different in mind that will allow you to play longer, be [more] invested in the game without having a fragmented community."
Fans of the original Battlefront found it difficult to find matches once new maps and modes were released as DLC, which is what influenced the decision to snub the season pass.
Diemer continued: "When we looked at the way Battlefront had evolved over its lifetime, with the DLC and everything, we decided, 'You know what? For this type of game, season passes are not the best thing.
"We need to [take it apart] and come up with something better."

EA has stopped short of saying that DLC will be free, explaining that live service plans will be revealed in due course.
"While we're not ready to confirm any live service plans just yet, what we can say is this we heard the feedback from our Battlefront community loud and clear," reads an EA statement.
"We know they want more depth, more progression, and more content. So we're focused on delivering that in every dimension of Star Wars Battlefront 2. We'll have more to share about our plans soon."
