Paul Quigley reassured the 300,000 UK nationals living in Spain they will not be in limbo during Britain’s exit from the European Union (EU) because “Spain needs Britain far more than Britons need Spain".
Despite Spain sending a threatening message challenging the British rule of Gibraltar, Spain will want to desperately cling on to “wealthy and monied” UK expats because its economy has been “decimated” by the beleaguered bloc, he said.
He told Express.co.uk: “Spain needs Britons far more than Britons need Spain. The Spanish government, under the rule of Brussels bureaucrats, has been decimated.

“Even Catalonia wants out and even wants to secede from Spain itself.
“Without British expenditure there, Spain's economy will cave in far sooner than if it remains in the EU basket case.

“So, they will desperately need the patronage of wealthy and monied Britons to help prop up their ailing economy.”

“Again posturing by the EU over this issue is purely a political tool they may attempt to brandish but ultimately it will fail, just as their undemocratic project is now inevitably set to collapse.
“Britain has become the only safe haven in all of Europe now. Capital flight to London and the rest of Great Britain is already well underway.
“The euro, along with Frankfurt and Brussels, are no longer seen as safe harbour for assets and big money is shifting over to Britain.”

He added: “It is clear, the entire EU project is about to tank.”
