Who will Jurgen Klopp start against Southampton in the EFL Cup?
"It's important for us to stay with good focus about our game, our play, and to play with good calm and quality.
"We are in a situation where it is not efficient to stay just one goal up. It will be important to score another goal.
"We will have a good team and a strong team to defend this result, but not just to defend but to attack and play a strong game like the first leg.
Jack Stephens could feature for Southampton against Liverpool in the EFL Cup semi-final
"It will be difficult of course and Liverpool will be favourite, but all is possible. All the pressure is on them."
Southampton will leave it as late as possible to make a decision on the fitness of key defender Virgil van Dijk, who limped out of Sunday's 3-0 win at home to champions Leicester with an ankle injury. England Under-21 international Jack Stephens is on standby.
Stephens, 22, has not made his full Premier League debut but Puel insists the academy product will not be daunted if he is asked to step in.
Puel added: "If Jack has to play this game he will play with a good spirit and calm. He's a good player."
