The unnamed victim was bundled from behind by one attacker as he walked up some steps to catch a train.
He was then held by the neck in the brutal assault while another man raided his pockets to steal his valuables.
The man's terrifying ordeal only ended when they had found his wallet and the thief ran away, leaving the original attacker to forcefully throw him to the ground before making a getaway.
CCTV footage picked up the attack which happened at the Francos Rodriguez Metro Station, in the district of Tetuan, Madrid, Spain.

Officers say the attackers used a well-known attack method called the "mataleon", which translates as the "lion kill", to complete the robbery.
The term refers to the way the predators hunt their prey in packs to get the biggest kills.
Footage has since been released by police to catch the suspects, with the officers confirming they have already seen some success from their appeal.
Officers confirmed that they have managed to identify one man in connection with the vicious attack.

They have not named the alleged attacker, but have confirmed he is a 21-year-old man from Morocco.
They are still searching for the second man and are appealing for anyone with any information to come forward to help.
The victim is believed to have not sustained any life-threatening injuries but was left shaken following the assault.
Police inquiries are ongoing.
