The social media storm began after there were hints that the drama would not be recommissioned for a third season.
Actor Brian J. Smith, who plays Will Gorski, in the programme shared a troubling post on Twitter yesterday suggesting that the future was not looking good for Sense8.
The 35-year-old US star re-tweeted a post, reading: “If we don't show our support for @sense8, it might not get renewed. Let's tweet as much as we can the hashtag: #RenewSense8.”
Along with the re-tweet, he wrote to his 124,000 followers: “This might be a good time to start making some noise.”
His post has been shared on the micro-blogging platform over 12,000 times by fans and received 11,000 likes.
It is not clear where these reports about Sense8 have come from and could purely be speculation after Netflix cancelled Baz Luhrmann’s show The Get Down after one series.
