Russia is building a model of the Reichstag
The former communist nation’s Youth Army will be given the chance to raid Germany’s iconic Reichstag as part of their training routine.
A scaled-down replica of the Reichstag building, which was captured by Soviet forces in the Battle of Berlin in 1945, will be used as a training facility by Russians.
Sergei Shoigu announced the plans in the Duma
The youth wing of Putin’s army has more than 42,000 schoolchildren within its ranks and even has its own flag.
Russian defence minister Sergei Shoigu announced plans to build the replica and will feature within a “patriotic park” with realistic warfare scenarios.
The patriot park, based 31 miles west of Moscow, opened two years ago and serves as a hub to the growing youth movement within the former Soviet nation.

We are building a replica of the Reichstag in Patriot Park. Not a full-sized one, but something that allows the Young Army to storm a specific target
Children as young as 10 are able to sign up to the group to learn how to handle weapons, engage in military training and encourage patriotic fervour among Russians.
When launched in 2015, Shoigu claimed it marked a "revival of the good old tradition of children's and youth organisations".
Shoigu said: “We are building a replica of the Reichstag in Patriot Park. Not a full-sized one, but something that allows the Young Army to storm a specific target, not just any old place.”
He added he wanted to "take over the training of youth in the spirit of patriotism, ideals of friendship and internationalism”.
Russia annexed the Crimea in 2014
The Reichstag is still used to German politicians to this day after a series of renovations.
Putin launched his annexation of Crimea in 2014 and there are fears the Russian leader could be using soft power to increase his sphere of influence across the globe.
Russia has been accused of hacking the Democratic National Convention and working with WikiLeaks to affect the result of the US election.
