Resident Evil 7 Reviews
Resident Evil 7: Biohazard is set after the events of Resident Evil 6, taking place in modern day and revolving around a foreboding, derelict plantation mansion in rural America.
The Resident Evil 7 Biohazard release date is set for January 24 and we already know how many people feel about the new game.
Below, you can read some of the new Resident Evil 7 Review that have been posted in recent days:
Resident Evil 7 Review – Polygon 9/10: “While a fully controllable first-person view is quite different from the static third-person cameras of the old-school RE games, it shares a key element with them: a limited perspective. Resident Evil 7 limits this perspective even further by making turning speed very slow. This adds a huge amount of tension as you explore.
“In the original Resident Evil games, you might be cautious because one corner of the room was obscured, and you didn't know if an enemy hid there. In RE7, you have to be cautious because you never know if an enemy has slid into the room behind you, or if there's some creature shambling down the hallway to your right. If you turn to check, you might find yourself suddenly blindsided by an attack from ahead of you.”
Resident Evil 7 review – Eurogamer: “While they spend plenty of time off-screen, the Bakers are never far from your thoughts.
“As with the Nemesis of Resident Evil 3, there's the continual threat – heightened by a wealth of sinister ambient noise – of one or other family member dropping in on you as you comb rooms for the emblem keys and object puzzle pieces you need to access the mansion's darker recesses.
“Jack in particular is an unrelenting foe, smashing through layouts with scant regard for his own property.”
Resident Evil 7 Review – Gamespot 8/10: “Knowing when to run away is arguably part of any horror game, but I still would have preferred something more threatening, especially since I was playing on the highest difficulty available out of the box (you do unlock a higher difficulty after completing the game).
Boss fights were also a bit of a mix. One thrilling battle recaptures classic Resident Evil boss design by throwing you into a creepy, intricate arena that allows your opponent to surprise you over and over. But another more action-oriented fight was a real struggle…right up until the game showed me a prompt explaining how to perform a power attack with the weapon I'd received specifically for that fight.
“As soon as I knew that, I immediately won after many failed attempts. Thankfully, the game's pretty generous when you die.”

Resident Evil 7 Review – IGN 7/7: “The setting’s only real failing is its puzzles, which were disappointingly rare and far too simple.
“Rather than hiding codes and passwords behind riddles or forcing some kind of threat or fail state on me if I entered in an incorrect solution as previous games have (think of the Armor Room puzzle from the first Resident Evil), Resident Evil 7 doesn’t even seem to try to make its obstructions interesting or challenging.
“I felt like I simply stumbled upon answers more than I did employed any kind of real problem-solving to get there.”
Resident Evil 7 Review – Destructoid: "So if you have the PSVR, you're left with a trade-off. Play normally with smooth, sharp graphics (and more death animations, I believe, as I noticed some more grisly deaths on the TV) with more consistency, or play in VR and sacrifice graphics for a huge boost in immersion and better aiming.
"Aiming with VR is a joy, as you shoot by aiming with your face, and it made me look forward to boss fights and skirmishes with regular enemies since it's so much fun. I'm glad Capcom didn't try to use the PlayStation move as a gun, because this is more enjoyable and feels more intuitive."
