It’s claimed City boss Pep Guardiola made a move to try and lure Monaco star Mbappe to the Etihad.
But Marca say Mbappe knocked back their advances because his heart is set on Real Madrid.
The 18-year-old – regarded as one of the world’s hottest prospects – has not yet decided whether he’ll stay at Monaco next season.
However, when he does go it’s likely that Real will be his destination.
He’s said to dream of playing at the Bernabeu because he wants to work with his idol Zinedine Zidane.

Speaking while on international duty with France, Mbappe said: “Zidane the player made me dream and still makes me still dream when I watch videos of him.
"The coach is completely different, he is a great coach who has quickly achieved results and continues to develop."
Manchester United and Chelsea have also shown an interest in the whizzkid with Marca claiming clubs will have to stump up £105m to lure him away from Monaco.
The frontman yesterday revealed he would seek the advice of France boss Didier Deschamps before making decision on his future.

He said: “The advice of [Deschamps] counts. That will not guide my choice, but it will count.
“I do not think I will go to his office to ask. But there's plenty of time to think about all this. There are important matches for France."
Mbappe scored 15 league goals to fire Monaco to the Ligue 1 title this season.
