The Madrid talisman appears to have rediscovered his best form in the Champions League.
Having struggled in recent months in La Liga, Cristiano Ronaldo popped up with a brace in Germany before netting a hat-trick tonight.
Madrid were taken to extra-time by Bayern after they won 2-1 in 90 minutes, but Arturo Vidal's red card proved costly.
Ronaldo netted twice more to complete his treble and secure his 100th Champions League goal.
During the 4-2 win, Ronaldo took it upon himself to send a message to his critics, putting his finger to his lips.
Zinedine Zidane defended Cristiano Ronaldo after Real Madrid's win over Bayern Munich
Maybe they will not whistle Ronaldo any more. That can happen here sometimes
But amid the friction of late, Zidane emphasised the 32-year-old's influence in the team.
"In the key moments Ronaldo is always there," Zidane said.
"He scored 3 goals. And the fans will always appreciate him for all he has done here.
"Cristiano answers on the pitch, and he scored three goals, five in two games, what else can I say.
"Maybe they will not whistle Ronaldo any more. That can happen here sometimes, and he knows that. But he is relaxed about this."

On Ronaldo shushing the Bernabeu supporters after scoring, Zidane said: "Fans know the tension and effort on the pitch, they will not reproach him for that."
Bayern boss Carlo Ancelotti bemoaned the refereeing after the game, but Zidane suggested the visitors were not the only team on the wrong end of decisions.
He added: "We have had many difficult games, but today was the most difficult. But we deserved to go through, scored six goals.
"They have told me their second goal was also offside. It goes both ways, that is football.
"More than the second yellow, or the offside goals, the six goals we scored over the two games we deserved to go through in the tie."
