The Rainbow Six Siege servers look to be back online for many free weekend users
The Rainbow Six Siege servers went offline in the early hours of the morning, starting almost five hours ago and causing problems for PS4, Xbox One and PC players.
"We are working to resolve the issue with logging in to our online services as quickly as possible; thank you for your patience through this," a message from the Ubisoft support team reads.
Ubisoft have since confirmed that the issues have been resolved for most users, although there are still reports of problems in different regions of the globe.
It's unclear what caused the mass outage, however, it may have something to do with the Rainbow Six Siege Free Weekend and the big Invitational eSports event.

the upcoming update to the game, Operation Velvet Shell, is set to be shown during this weekend's Twitch livestream, with both Operators, along with the new Coastline map on the Spanish island of Ibiza, will be shown in a series of livestreamed panels during the Six Invitational.
Things set to be revealed include the Year 2 Roadmap, Operation Velvet Shell live demo, Dev panels, and the Pro League competition.
It follows the news that a Rainbow Six Siege free weekend is being planned by Ubisoft to run from February 2-5. The free version offers access to all of the maps, modes, and Operators present in the full version, giving you the full Siege experience over the free weekend.
And if you want to keep playing after February 5, you can grab the full version at a 50% discount for a limited time, and keep all the progress you made during the trial period.

The new RSS free event is now available to download on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC (via Uplay and Steam).
There is the possibility that a massive surge of players may have caused the Rainbow Six Siege servers to crash, however, Ubisoft have not confirmed what caused tonight's outage.
$200,000 is the total prize pool of the Rainbow Six Invitational ($100,000 per platform). It will be distributed as follows:
- 1st: $50,000
- 2nd: $22,500
- 3rd – 4th: $8,750
- 5th – 6th: $5,000
The entire tournament will be streamed on the official Twitch channel.
