Rafael Nadal has close links with Real Madrid and club legend Iker Casillas
Nadal, a 14-time tennis major winner, is an avid Real Madrid fan although his uncle Migel Angel made more than 200 appearances for bitter rivals Barcelona.
And the 30-year-old has revealed that he can see himself in the top job at Real, currently occupied by Florentino Perez, after his tennis career is over.
"You never know what can happen," Nadal said at a sponsor's event in Spain.
Rafael Nadal has been introduced to the crowd at the Bernabeu and is a popular figure at Real Madrid
"Everyone knows I'm passionate about football and Real Madrid is my team.
"Talking about it now is a dream, but if you ask me, of course I would like to be president.
"[The club] is doing very well as we are, we have a great president and I do not think Real Madrid needs me for anything or that it will happen."
Nadal has had previous experience at board level in football, having been part of a consortium that owned 10 per cent of his home club Mallorca.
But those shares were sold in 2011 and Nadal has regularly been seen at Real Madrid matches when his international playing schedule allows.
And when former French sport minister Roselyne Bachelot made doping allegations against the Spaniard in March 2016, the club spoke out in the player's defence.

"Real Madrid would like to express their full support to our honorary member, Rafa Nadal, undoubtedly one of the greatest sportsmen of all time in Spain and in the world," a statement said.
"Rafa Nadal represents the fundamental values of sport.
