Windsor Castle royal guards set to receive extra protection amid terror threat
Enhanced security around Windsor Castle, which has been described as “proportionate and necessary”, will be deployed before the Changing Of The Guard on March 29.
Barriers will be put in place around the royal residence in Berkshire to support existing road closures while the operation is under way, Thames Valley Police said.
Assistant Chief Constable Dave Hardcastle urged the public to “remain vigilant” as Britain’s terror threat level “remans severe”.
He said: "While there is no intelligence to indicate a specific threat to Windsor, recent events in Westminster clearly highlight the need for extra security measures to be introduced.
"The force believes that it is proportionate and necessary to put in place extra security measures to further protect and support the public and the guard change.

At least four people have been killed including a policeman
"This is consistent with security deployments in London. Preventative measures such as these have been put in place across the UK over the past 10 years at various events.
"The national threat level remains severe, which it has been since 2014, and I would urge the public to be alert to the threat of terror attacks but not alarmed, and to remain vigilant."
The Queen condemned the Westminster attack as "awful violence"
Last week Her Majesty was forced to postpone a visit to open the Metropolitan Police's new headquarters following the atrocity which took place outside Parliament.
Security was tightened at Buckingham Palace – which is half a mile away from the Palace of Westminster – after four people were killed and more than 40 were left injured.
The new barriers outside Windsor Castle will only be used to secure the route of the procession during the event and will remain open at other times.
