PlayStation VR exclusive Farpoint
According to reports, the North American PlayStation Store may have given away the official PlayStation VR release date for Farpoint.
Farpoint was revealed at E3 2016 and is by far one of the most anticipated PSVR games being launched this year.
Resident Evil 7 may have itched that virtual reality spot for those who own a PlayStation VR but most have been looking out for more news on the upcoming space shooter.
“Farpoint is an unnerving VR space adventure set on a hostile alien planet. On a mission to pick up scientists studying an anomaly with the potential of limitless power near Jupiter, a rupture from the anomaly transports the player and scientists to an unknown alien world.
“Separated from their colleagues, players must use holographic logs scattered throughout the landscape to reunite with the scientists and escape the planet.

“Players explore and discover the secrets of the planet, blasting their way through hordes of indigenous and alien creatures with the optional/compatible PlayStation VR Aim Controller.”
So far, the PlayStation Store has just listed the game with a December 31, 2017 placeholder date, however, some eagle-eyed fans spotted a recent change.
According to Pure PlayStation, the storefront changed the official PlayStation VR Farpoint release date to May 16, 2017.
While the end of year release slot was a clear placeholder, May 16 seems like a much more promising update.
This new information appears to have been removed from the page listing, so it’s worth taking the news with a pinch of salt.

Fans will also be hoping to learn if the official PlayStation Plus February 2017 lineup is set to include a new PlayStation VR game.
Sony have gone on record to say that they were looking into the possibility of adding virtual reality games to PlayStation Plus before their new headset was launched.
And while they have shared nothing further on the matter since, it would certainly prove a good selling point to fans.
There’s the possibility that Sony could offer a game that has been given a PSVR patch, that way fans with and without the PlayStation VR could have a free game to play.
Despite any PSVR title being offered in January, PS4 games can still be played on the headset using Cinematic Mode, which is used to view the PS4 system interface and non-VR games and applications on a virtual screen.
However, non VR games which use the PS Camera like the original non-VR PlayRoom and Tearaway Unfolded are not supported by PS VR Cinematic mode.
