Matthew Baker, 29, and cellmate James Whitlock, 32, fooled guards with blankets and pillows made to look as if they were asleep. Baker broke his leg and was found under a bed at his sister’s home in Ilford, east London, two days later.
His injuries were so severe, he nearly had to have his leg amputated.

At Blackfriars Crown Court, Baker admitted breaking out Pentonville prison in north London.
He was on remand for trying to murder Matthew Bennett, 25, in Dagenham, Essex.
Mr Bennett was left with 50 scars and heart, lung and brain injuries.

Baker escaped with Whitlock two days before his sentencing.
They cut through their window bars using a diamond-tipped saw and abseiled down five floors using bedsheets.
Baker was jailed for life at Snaresbrook Crown Court last December.

His sister, Kelly Baker, 21, of Ilford, admits helping by buying him hair dye.
Whitlock, of Chelmsford, Essex, was jailed for four-and-a-half years in March for stealing £290,660 from cash machines.
He admits breaking out of prison.
They will be sentenced later.
