Gaston Ramirez has handed in a transfer request at Middlesbrough
Ramirez initially joined Middlesbrough on loan in January 2016 before signing permanently from Southampton in the summer.
But according to Sky Sports, the Uruguay international has made it known to the club that he wants to leave this month.
And it is added that Leicester is the intended team Ramirez wishes to join, who have been linked with a move for the 26-year-old this month.
Aitor Karanka doesn't want to sell Gaston Ramirez
Claudio Ranieri is reportedly a big fan of Ramirez and believes he would help the reigning Premier League champions avoid relegation.
Ranieri is keen to shuffle his squad in the remaining few days of the transfer window with Leonardo Ulloa linked with a move away from Leicester.
Ulloa's possible exit could free up the funds to lure Ramirez to the King Power Stadium but Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka has insisted he has no intention of selling his star man.

Leicester's move for Ramirez could hinge on Leonardo Ulloa's future
"He is staying, he is enjoying it a lot and is a really important player for us, having only arrived one year ago," Karanka said.
Ramirez has been one of Middlesbrough more consistent players this season with two goals and three assists in 17 Premier League appearances but has been left out of the squad in the last two matchdays.
