Pokemon Go Gen 2 update could prove tricky for some fans
Pokemon Go fans are still waiting for Niantic to announce the release date for the huge Gen 2 update.
But as a recent Pokemon Go news report suggests, fans could see the next smattering of Gen 2 Pokemon appear as part of a Valentine's Day update.
The Valentine's Day update would potentially introduce friendship-based evolutions, according to a Slashgear source.
If Niantic continues to drip feed Gen 2 Pokemon and does decide to add friendship-based evolutions, then it will likely begin with Espeon and Umbreon, which are the Gen 2 evolved forms of Eevee.
And in another interesting twist, whether you end up with Espeon or Umbreon really depends on the time of day you evolve. Fans will receive Espeon by evolving in the day, and Umbreon by evolving at night.
Unfortunately, some Pokemon Go fans will have a tough time getting hold of the new Gen 2 Pokemon, because Niantic has been hit with a major new restriction.

Pokemon Go developer Niantic will need a permit to do virtual business in Milwaukee County Parks.
This latest Pokemon Go development will make it harder for players in the area to catch them all.
According to the Milwaukee Record, while the ordinance wasn’t solely directed at Pokemon Go, it could mean that Niantic will have to pay for a permit to do business in the locations listed.
The ordinance in full: “Virtual and location-based augmented reality games are not permitted in Milwaukee County Parks except in those areas designated with a permit for such use by the Director of the Department of Parks, Recreation, and Culture (DPRC).
“Permits shall be required before any company may introduce a location-based augmented reality game into the Parks, effective January 1, 2017."
It all stems from the chaos caused by last summer's Pokemon Go launch, which saw several PokeStops removed from areas where a reported increase in people playing the game caused damage to parks.
And it could prove very damaging to Niantic if more public places follow suit.
Fans have been reporting problems with playing the popular app on certain Android devices following the latest Pokemon Go update.
The latest Niantic patch appears to have introduced the issues which is said to be affecting over 40 different device platforms.
Pokemon Go update 0.55.0 looks to have included a glitch which crashes the app when users open the medals list.
This shouldn’t be a problem as long as you don’t click your Avatar. Performing this action can lead to a game-breaking bug, although it’s unclear if this wipes anything from your current session.
Users are also reporting a similar bug when they tap a Pokemon, as mentioned above, these issues are only affecting a select group of devices.
The people at Pokemon Go Hub have put together a list of Android devices currently being affected by the bug, this includes…
