The new Pokemon Go update for the Easter Event starts going live now
UPDATE ONE: The new Pokemon Go Easter Event is now going live and will likely launch in waves globally.
Fans should be prepared for a slowdown in connectivity to the popular mobile title, with a spike in server traffic on the cards.
The new Pokemon Go update starts officially at 9pm today and will end 9:00 P.M. BST on April 20, 2017.
Niantic have confirmed that a greater variety of Pokemon will be found in 2 km Eggs during this time, with players also able to earn more Candy for every Egg they hatch.
Talking about other bonuses, the Pokemon Go team added: “Throughout this Eggstravaganza, you’ll also level up even faster with double XP.
“Combine this Egg-cellent bonus with a Lucky Egg, and you’ll earn four times the XP you normally would. To make this Eggstravaganza even sweeter, Lucky Eggs will be 50% off in the in-game shop.”
There is also hope that a new Pokemon Go shiny may also be released today and you can expect fans to start searching for it straight away.

Pokemon Go Easter Eggstravaganza
Pokemon Go continues to prove popular among Android and Apple device users, having managed to hold onto a large dedicated fanbase, following its huge release last year.
And while the number of players isn't as high as it one was, there are still around 65m trainers around the world hoping to find out more about the newest Pokemon Go update.
And while the latest information released this week appears to point to just Pokemon Go Easter Event bonuses being rolled out later today, there could also be added surprises as well.

Niantic are slowly building a reputation for making big Pokemon Go update announcements, and then leaving out vital information.
It happened with the recent Water Festival, with the development team posting details of how the new spawning bonuses would work and then only announcing the release of Shiny Magikarps two days later.
The question is, could they do it again with the Pokemon Go Easter Event?
The only clues that were given for something special going on in the past, was the picture of the Water Festival featuring both Magikarp and Gyarados.
These became the first Shiny Pokemon to be added to the game and worked well as a big incentive to play during the water-themed event.
Reddit discussions sprung up just hours after the event went live, with players trying to work out the best ways to grab one of the new Pocket Monsters.
Will the new Pokemon Go Easter Event also include a big Shiny update?
For the same to happen with the Pokemon Go Eggstravaganza, it seems likely that it would need to be Togepi as the next shiny Pocket Monster to be deployed.
Recent reports have indicated that Niantic do indeed have plans to release a new Shiny Pokemon this week, however, it’s not known which one, at this time.
There is also the chance that the Pokemon Go team could add a temporary mechanic to the game to make it so players can hatch shiny Pokemon.
Whatever does happen, it seems in Niantic’s best interests to continue the trend of releasing new Shinies with events, it was definitely one of the most talked-about features from the Water Festival.
It adds a new incentive to the game, making you want to play more until you track down the latest special version of Pokemon, even if it’s only for the slightly different colour.
The Pokemon GO Eggstravaganza starts at 9:00 P.M. BST today.

While a new event will help reinvigorate the game, it appears much bigger Pokemon Go news is on the horizon.
Gyms are set for a major revamp and part of this could include maintaining the Pokemon that are currently occupying them.
In a further expansion to the Teams system, players would need to feed their Pokemon that are away protecting a Gym, while players would also get new notifications on how their Pocket Monster are doing.
Players have also found references to “Raids” a new game mechanic that looks set to launch new global goals for teams to unlock additional rewards.
It’s unclear if this will included Legendary Pokemon and at the moment, timed-raids and their full game mechanics are still unknown.
A new co-op gameplay feature has already been teased by Niantic, who referenced warmer weather arriving as the time in which it will be launched.
