The new Pokemon Go Easter Event news includes Gen 2 Starters
The new Pokemon Go Easter Event is set to last for a full week but like in the past, Niantic have left the finer details for Trainers to find out.
Having been teased for the past month via reports and leaks on the internet, the latest Pokemon Go update is now live to play on Android and Apple devices.
And as you may expect, it has a lot to do with getting the most out of the eggs that you collect and hatch over the next seven days.
What the development team have confirmed is that a greater variety of Pokemon can now be found in 2km eggs.
And the latest Pokemon Go news is that Gen 2 starters can now be found in 5km hatching scenarios.
That’s a big Pokemon Go update for those trying to evolve Chikorita, Cyndaquil and Totodile, who are still quite rare to find in the wild.
“Didn't capture the screen where the egg was hatching because I didn't expect this, but I can confirm I obtained this egg post-event start, and just hatched it into a Totodile. It was a 5km egg,” one Trainer confirmed on Reddit.
They also revealed that they received 22 candies for hatching the Totodile, along with 1069 StarDust.

This is also important news as Niantic confirmed that you’ll also earn more Candy for every Egg you hatch, although they didn’t provide an exact amount.
Other bonuses for the new event also includes Double XP, although there is a way to get even more.

“Throughout this Eggstravaganza, you’ll also level up even faster with double XP! Combine this Egg-cellent bonus with a Lucky Egg, and you’ll earn four times the XP you normally would,” Niantic confirms.
“To make this Eggstravaganza even sweeter, Lucky Eggs will be 50% off in the in-game shop.”
Lucky Eggs are earned from leveling up, so players probably don’t have a huge amount, unless they’ve spent PokeCoins on them.
Here’s a guide on how to get the most out of your Lucky Eggs, courtesy of rankedboost: “Farming Pokemon With Lucky Egg + Lure Modules + Incense All Active at the Same Time.
“Players will find a cluster of Pokestops, ideally, with Lure Modules Active. While having a Lucky Egg and Incense active as well.

“This will cause a lot of Pokemon to begin to spawn, keeping you very busy catching Pokemon almost nonstop. Catching large amount of Pokemon while your egg is active will rack in a lot of XP.”
If that doesn’t tickle your fancy, there is an alternative strategy to using Lucky Eggs: “Not everyone can afford to always have a Pokemon Go Lucky Egg active while catching Pokemon in Pokemon Go. You can make the most out the 30 mins the Lucky Eggs give you to earn double XP.
“Catch Lots of Pokemon, What I mean by this is spend some time gathering as much Pokemon as you can fit in your inventory.
“Prepare your list of pokemon by transferring all the Pokemon you don’t plan to keep or evolve. You should get rid of pokemon with low IV Ratings and other duplicates you don’t plan to keep. You should have lots of candies ready and be prepared to evolve lots of leftover Pokemon.
“Activate your Pokemon Go Lucky Egg at this point, the timer is on and you have 30 mins to Evolve all of the Pokemon you have stockpiled in your inventory.
“So for example: If in 30 mins you manage to evolve 39 Pokemon, normally that would equal 39,000 XP. With a Pokemon Go Lucky Egg Active You Double The XP Gain, so then it would be 78,000 XP. This is the best way to make use of your limited Pokemon Go Lucky Eggs.”
