The Pokemon Direct event could reveal the first Pocket Monster adventure on Switch
Pokemon Stars has been a long-rumoured project for the Nintendo Switch and appears set for reveal later today.
This will be during a Pokemon Direct 2017 event, with the June showcase kicking off at 3pm, BST.
The curious things is that this latest Nintendo Direct-style show is only down to last a total of eight minutes, quite an usual amount of time.
"Join us for a special Pokémon Direct where we'll share some exciting news about the Pokémon series," reads a Nintendo statement.
Fans can watch the action unfold on the Nintendo website.
This is likely due to the proximity of E3 2017 kicking off next week, although it does beg the question why this news couldn’t be left until then.

It could be that this new reveal will prove just the preamble for a much a larger trailer and update on a big unannounced project being shown off during Nintendo’s E3 showcase.
The latest reports suggest it will be Pokemon Stars, a new game for the Nintendo Switch that has been rumoured for quite sometime.
Earlier sources have claimed that Pokemon Stars would have mid-2017 release on Nintendo Switch, going by the date though, this now seems unlikely.
The new Pocket Monster adventure for Switch will boast revamped visuals, although the content itself might closely resemble Pokemon Sun and Moon.

Sources in 2016 reported that developers GameFreak were set to follow up their release of Pokemon Sun and Moon with a new Nintendo Switch games in 2017.
The new project is only codenamed Pokemon Stars, meaning a new official title could be announced today.
This new Pocket Monster adventure will reportedly follow the formula used in the past where a third title with expanded features is launched.
The only difference will be that Pokemon Stars will reportedly be available on multiple Nintendo devices within the same generation.
Other rumoured features include being able to trade Pokemon between Stars and Sun and Moon, while also sharing similar areas in the Aloha region to explore.
As always there is no guarantee that a new Pokemon game will be announced for the Nintendo Switch later today, but it’ll be worth tuning in to find out.
