Pointless fans SLAM Nancy Dell’Olio as she REFUSES to cooperate for Alexander Armstrong

The contestant was appearing on the celebrity special edition of the general knowledge quiz, which saw four teams try to produce answers that nobody else could think of.

Guests included Rev Richard Coles, Diane-Louise Jordan, Sharron Davies, Mark Foster and Gyles Brandreth, but Nancy wasn't even sure why she was there.

Comedian Susan Calman seemed to ruffle Nancy's feathers with her introduction.

"Hello, I'm Susan, and I've been booked this evening as the glamour," said the 42-year-old.

Teamed up with Channel 5 newsreader Matt Barbet, Nancy looked annoyed that Matt had introduced himself first.

When it finally came to Nancy's turn, the 55-year-old said: "I don't know why I'm here. Ah… but… my name is Nancy of course, I don't think I do need any presentation."

Fans immediately took to social media to vent their frustration, with one viewer tweeting: "Nancy Dell'Ollio is on Pointless and she's being frosty and uncooperative."

"Yes Nancy you do need an introduction. No one knows who the hell you are #pointless #noncelebrities," posted another.

The contestant first came to public notice as the girlfriend of Sven-Göran Eriksson; who used to be the manager of the England football team.

As the show went on, a further person ranted: "#PointlessCelebrities Nancy – pointless yes celebrity no."

"@TVsPointless Nancy really is a pointless celebrity," posted another viewer, before a third asked: "Who does Nancy Dell'Olio think she is? #PointlessCelebrities."

Pointless continues on Monday evening at 5:15pm on BBC One.
