Series four of the hit show will see Brody's character take on Thomas Shelby (played by Cillian Murphy) as his "biggest threat ever".
Creator Steven Knight revealed that 44-year-old King Kong actor Brody will rise to instant notoriety in the 1920s era programme.
Knight said: "Adrien plays the threat to the family and possibly the biggest they'll face."
Game of Thrones star Aidan Gillen, 49, has also confirmed his role in the fourth season after being spotted in costume on set.

Peaky Blinders series 4 spoiler: Adrien Brody's 'threat' to Tommy Shelby REVEALED
Adrien plays the threat to the family and possibly the biggest they'll face
The 57-year-old showrunner told the Metro that Gillen will become a "dangerous" character to watch.
He said: "Aidan is a sort of… in the face of danger it's like pressing the nuclear button. You get him to help. Let me put it that way."
Speaking of the numerous famous faces that have now joined the cast, Knight said that he tries to secure "perfect" actors, rather than recognisable faces.
He continued: "We have been very fortunate to get two really legendary actors. We get a lot of actors who want to be part of [Peaky Blinders] which is great but we try not to make it a 'spot the star' sentiment, and just get actors who are really perfect for the role."

Season three’s shocking finale saw Shelby inform his family that they were all about to be arrested, followed by the closing scene which saw Polly (Helen McCrory), Arthur (Paul Anderson), Michael (Finn Cole) and John (Joe Cole) all dragged away by police to jail.
Cole has yet to be spotted on set, leading fans to speculate his character is still in prison for blowing up a train, but Tommy, Arthur and youngest brother Finn (Harry Kirton) have been seen walking free, suggesting they have evaded prison time.
Meanwhile, Arthur’s wife Linda (Kate Phillips) was spotted being driven in a 1920s-style car, seemingly confirming her return to the show.
