Paul McCartney says he still regrets the way The Beatles split up, 50 years later
“You’d have to say the way The Beatles broke up was a bit untidy, a bit ugly. We were such a great little band, it would’ve been nice to just continue on,” says Macca, who along with John Lennon and George Harrison formed what is still the world’s most famous band in 1960 with Ringo Starr joining a couple of years later.
Their break-up after a decade together – which saw them reach stratospheric success – has long been blamed on John’s girlfriend at the time, Yoko Ono, causing tension between the Fab Four.
But Sir Paul insists it was nothing to do with her.
The business side really crept in and got a bit sticky
“The business side really crept in and got a bit sticky. I regret that,” adds the 75-year-old who went on to form folk-rock band Wings with his wife Linda – who died of breast cancer aged 56 in 1998.
And the man who wrote classic songs such as Yesterday and Hey Jude adds philosophically: “If I could have reversed that scenario, it wouldn’t have been a bad idea.
“But otherwise no regrets really. You do what you do and try and make things work out, and have a bit of fun while you’re doing it. That’s the story for me these days."
Despite the fact that Christie Brinkley is well into her seventh decade she has no plans to retire any time soon.
And according to the 63-year-old supermodel she intends to carry on doing bikini shoots and couldn’t give two hoots if people say she’s getting too old.
“That’s the good thing about turning 60 – you don’t really care so much about what they might think,” says Christie, who still holds the record for the longest-running cosmetics contract having been a Cover Girl for 25 years.
While launching her own organic prosecco, Bellissima, in Los Angeles this week she adds that she might not be as taut as she once was but she’s happy in her skin: “I do what I can to stay healthy and active and if there’s a little jiggle attached to that, so be it"

She has been a vegetarian since the 1960s – but kind-hearted Joanna Lumley is happy to cook meat or fish dishes when entertaining guests as she doesn’t want to force her dietary regime on other people.
Slender Joanna, 71, who has previously admitted she’s not a big eater, says: “I don’t mind cooking. We currently have house guests and preparing supper is the best fun in the world, chopping and eating while we talk and talk. I don’t cook from books, I just make it up as I go along.
“I don’t eat meat or fish but I cook them for my friends because you are not much of a hostess if you force all your guests to be vegetarian. Last night I made a fish pie that must have been good as they were practically sobbing with gratitude!”
You sure that was with gratitude Joanna?

Robbie Williams and wife Ayda Field were in Germany this week for the launch of the Robbie Williams X Marc O’Polo capsule collection.
Taking place in Munich the 43-year-old ex Take That singer and his wife, 38 – a regular on Loose Women – were there for the event which also marks the clothing label’s 50th anniversary, and for which Robbie even designed the jumper he was wearing.
The pair’s seemingly happy and relaxed demeanour comes on the back of Robbie admitting to suffering from extreme anxiety while making his recent album Heavy Entertainment Show.
He said at the time: “I get anxiety about the album and it’s not like it started last week. I took it into the studio with me for the last three years.
